About Whimology

Whimology was founded by Jorj Bauer, a lifelong technologist who has been writing code since 1983 and publishing in the technology industry since 1991. What started as a personal outlet for game ideas has grown into a small studio — a place where whims become playable things.

The name says it all: these projects begin on a whim. An idea for a card game mechanic, a half-remembered board game from decades ago, a vision of spaceships and supply chains. Some of them ship. Some of them stay in the workshop. All of them are built for the joy of building.

Jorj's background spans portable computing, wireless technologies, microcontrollers, amateur radio, and more years of tinkering than he'd care to count. He started gaming on the original Pong, cut his teeth programming on an Apple ][ and Commodore 64, and first wrote assembly language for a Hero-1 robot. That same restless curiosity — what happens if I try this? — drives every Whimology project.

All Whimology games are built with open web technologies and run on Mac, Windows, Linux, and in the browser. Multiplayer is peer-to-peer: no accounts, no central servers storing your data, no sign-up friction.
